Norman Edgar was born in 1948 and attended the Glasgow School of Art from 1961 to 1970 under David Donaldson. After teaching art in 1990 he started painting full time. His work is in numerous collections throughout Scotland and he is considered by many to be their leading portrait painter. His landscapes and still life have an ever increasing appeal.
