Ken Howard was born in 1932 and studied at the Royal College of Art. He was elected a Member of the Royal Academy in 1983 and has received numerous awards for his work and has exhibited widely both here and overseas. He was appointed official artist in Northern Ireland for the Imperial War Museum from 1973 to 1978 and worked between 1973 and 1980 in various parts of the world for the British Army.
