John Kenndy was born in Rangoon and educated in India and the United Kingdom. He has studios both in the U.K. and America and he has undertaken many large commissions both in Europe and America. Of his work John says:
'The interchange between male and female in all its complexity has always interested me as an artist. As an incurable romantic I seek to capture the warmth and tender closeness, the caring feelings as well as the joy and often the whimsical side of these very personal human emotions. This is why I see the human body as a 'point of departure' simplifying the figure to a lyrical composition. A sculpture should be a visual communicator, pleading and even begging a viewer to participate, to understand, and try to appreciate the very personal relationships and emotions I install in my figures'.
