Stephen Mangan was born in 1964 and obtained a BA (Hons) Drawing and Painting at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. He has exhibited at numerous galleries in Scotland and his work is in many private and public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, New York. The artist writing about his work says:
'The process of looking for the pictures begins with sitting at the harbour, going to a race-meeting or sitting in a bar - waiting and looking for things to appear. I will take a sketchbook and occasionally a camera. Mostly I want a feeling for the place to sink in - this will provide me with as much information as any drawings I make.'
